A close friend was throwing a huge party to celebrate her 50th birthday and wanted a succulent garden for her outdoor table centerpiece.
She is a jewellery designer inspired greatly by the ocean and her home has a lovely relaxed boho vibe surrounded by trees.
A large piece of driftwood collected at her local beach was the perfect receptacle for a mermaid’s garden.
After gouging out more depth in the wood with a chisel and drilling drainage holes a long piece of flyscreen mesh was cut to the shape to stop dirt escaping.
Then it was filled with a dreamy array of dusty pink, blue and green succulents with lots of sedum filling the gaps and providing support.
The relaxed glamour of the driftwood garden was a perfect backdrop for the birthday celebrations
and now takes pride of place on Lisa’s outdoor table, a lovely reminder of a fabulous night.
